Terms of Service

1. Acceptance

By creating an account or using the RentAuth platform ("Service"), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. Description of Service

RentAuth allows renters to upload, store, and share rental application documents with landlords and rental agents. Document verification is performed at RentAuth's discretion and is not guaranteed.

3. Renter Responsibilities

  • You must provide accurate, truthful documents. Submitting fraudulent documents is grounds for immediate account termination.
  • You are responsible for controlling who can access your documents using the unlock/lock feature.
  • You must be at least 18 years old to use the Service.

4. Agent / Landlord Responsibilities

  • You may only use applicant information for the purpose of evaluating a rental application for a specific unit.
  • You must not share, sell, or repurpose renter documents or personal information.
  • You are responsible for complying with all applicable privacy and human rights laws.

5. Document Status Labels

The "Verified" label means a RentAuth team member has reviewed the document for apparent authenticity. It is not a guarantee of accuracy and does not constitute a legal endorsement. "Self-reported" means the document was uploaded by the renter without third-party review. "Pending" means the document has been submitted and is awaiting review.

6. Prohibited Uses

  • Uploading malware, illegal content, or documents belonging to another person
  • Using the platform to discriminate based on any protected ground under the Ontario Human Rights Code
  • Scraping, reverse engineering, or automating access to the platform

7. Limitation of Liability

The Service is provided "as is". RentAuth is not liable for rental decisions made by landlords or agents based on information in a renter's profile. RentAuth is not liable for losses arising from unauthorized access to documents while a profile is unlocked.

8. Termination

You may delete your account at any time from your dashboard. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms. Upon termination, your data is deleted in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

9. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein.
